It is a surprising rebound: Not IBM takes over the Californian computer-maker but Oracle, the third biggest software producer of the world. Oracle bids 9,50 Dollars per Sun share or all in all 7,4 Billions Dollars. Even with less Suns cash and overdrafts the price remains at 5,6 Billions Dollars.
“Taking over the Sun, changes the IT-industry, by accomplishing corporate software and computing systems”, declared Oracle-director Laurence “Larry” Ellison. As crown jewels from Suns software-portfolio Oracle has acquired Java as well as the Solaris operation system.
Oracle and Sun were close partners and branch pioneers for over 20 years. This combination is a natural further development and will reinvent the industry.
